When you’re overwhelmed and just want a simple place to start, here are 5 EASY ways to use essential oils in your day, starting right now.
Everywhere you look, there’s information on essential oils – how to mix them, how to make your own, all the various ways they can help. But that’s a lot to absorb.
When you’re starting out, though, you want something simple, right?
So here are 5 ways to use essential oils RIGHT now, easy ideas that you can start using right away.
5 Easy Ways to Use Essential Oils in Your Day
Essential Oils Can Help Your Dogs Relax
Dogs can have anxiety!
If you have dogs, you’re probably nodding your head right now.
Many dogs have general anxiety, while others get stressed in specific situations – like fireworks or stormy weather.
Luckily, you can help with a little bit of aromatherapy, since frankincense is safe for dogs.
Set up a diffuser in the room where your dog is – of course, keep it in a place where it can’t be knocked over.
Get a Roller Bottle
You probably already know that essential oils must be diluted with a carrier oil before being applied to your skin.
The problem, though, is that it can be a real pain to mix and then add drops to your skin, and it’s messy, too.
Roller bottles solve a lot of problems – you mix the oils right in the bottle and have it convenient and handy to just roll on when needed.
Hurray for easy and convenient, right?
Use Oils in Your Laundry
I think this is the very first thing I ever used essential oils for, and I still do today.
Ditch the fabric sheets with all their nasty chemicals (yes, even the unscented!). Instead get yourself some wool dryer balls. Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil and toss the balls into the dryer with your clothes.
The scent will fill the dryer and get on all of your clothes.
My favourite is lavender, but I also like rose and jasmine. If you’re doing this, though, you might want to keep family members’ clothing separate – EJ isn’t terribly happy when I send him out in public smelling like lavender.
For someone who might want a less flowery scent, look for patchouli, sandalwood, bay, or bergamot.
Add Oils to Your Shampoo or Lotion
I love that essential oils are so easy to use and don’t require complication applications.
If you want them on your skin but you don’t want to deal with carrier oils and diluting, just add them to a product that you’re already using.
Remember that WATER won’t dilute essential oils, but most shampoo and body lotion has enough of the other carrier oils and ingredients to do the job.
Add a few drops to these products to get the scent and the health benefits.
Make a DIY Bug Repellent
Many insects hate this scent, including mice and spiders. Use a spray bottle to add some drops of peppermint and distilled water, then spray it near all the entrances of your home, or anywhere you think insects and rodents have become a problem.
If something has worked for thousands and thousands of years to promote health and well-being, prevent disease and illness, and treat illness and injury, and it is natural and side-effect-free, why do we instead choose modern medicines and preventives that are chock-full of harmful side-effects?More info →
